I’d been hearing about Another Bullshit Night in Suck City since it came out a couple years ago, but late last year, after finishing my own memoir, I finally got around to reading it. I loved the shifting timelines, short chapters, and hard but empathetic tone of Nick Flynn’s writing. The book has an escalating tension that mixes beautifully with its constant candor and mysterious beauty. It feels like a long-lost friend.

Nick Flynn’s next book will be out from Norton in January 2010. The title is “The Ticking is the Bomb”.
