Monday 9/12: Common Good Books presents Minnesota fiction writer Nathan Hill. He’ll read from his highly acclaimed debut novel, The Nix (Knopf). 7 p.m., free.

Tuesday 9/13: At St. Catherine University in St. Paul, Dr. Zetta Elliott talks about how racism and power affect the publishing industry, as well as how community-based and independent publishing may fill unmet needs. 7 p.m., free.

Wednesday 9/14: Magers and Quinn offers Kim Addonizio, author of Bukowski in a Sundress: Confessions From a Writing Life and Mortal Trash, in conversation with The Loft Literary Education Director, Jennifer Dodgson. 7 p.m., free.

Thursday 9/15: Catch MPR’s Kerri Miller interviewing memoirist Elizabeth Alexander about her newest release, The Light of the World (Grand Central). This event is a part of the 16th season of MPR and Star Tribune’s beloved Talking Volumes series. Fitzgerald Theatre, St. Paul. Tickets range from $15 to $50. 7 p.m.

The inaugural installment of the Bridges Reading Series takes place at Barnes and Noble (Snelling Ave, St. Paul). With a goal of bringing together writers across genres and backgrounds, Bridges offers a deep lineup including Evelina Chao, John Coy, Claudia Hampston Daly, Carolyn Holbrook, David Mura, Lia Rivamonte, and Mary Jo Thompson. 7 p.m., free.

Friday 9/16: Paul Dickinson launches his new poetry collection Cars, Bars, and Electric Guitars with musical guest, Itch Princess. Turf Club. 6 p.m., free.

Saturday 9/17: Spend the afternoon in downtown St. Paul at Amore Coffee, where Susan Kofed will be launching her new YA novel, Naming the Stars. 2 p.m., free.
