This week in New York Josh Neufeld gets graphic, How I Learned teaches us how to inhale, FDG Reading Series returns, Guillermo del Toro signs book two of three, Sam Lipsyte joins Brando Skyhorse, Arrested Development parties, and DUMBO Arts Festival takes over Brooklyn.

Josh Neufeld celebrates the paperback release of his award winning graphic novel A.D., about Hurricane Katrina. Greenlight Bookstore. 7:30PM. Free.

Tuesday 9/21: Another night of stories is happening uptown, FSG Reading Series features new and exciting writers such as, David Bezmozgis and Rahul Bhattacharya. Russian Samovar. 7PM. $5.

Wednesday 9/22: Film genius and visionary Guillermo del Toro (Pan’s Labrynth) signs copies of his second installment of The Strain Trilogy. Borders, 10 Columbus Circle. 8PM. Free.

“How I Learned to Inhale: Stories About Drugs” is this month’s theme for How I Learned storytelling night. Storytellers include Jeff Simmermon (This American Life) and Tony O’Neill (Sick City). Happy Ending. 8PM. Free.

Thursday 9/23: The Ask writer Sam Lipsyte joins Brando Skyhorse (Things My Fathers Taught Me) for a reading at Pete’s Candy Store. 7:30PM. Free.

Friday 9/24: The powerHouse Arena celebrates the DUMBO Arts Festival with Jonathan Lethem, who will be reading from Chronic City and signing the new paperback edition. The powerHouse Arena. 7PM-9PM. Free.

Saturday 9/25 (ART): Download the 2010 DUMBO Arts Festival guide and explore the art filled Brooklyn area. Tyrus Flynn exhibits mesmerizing photographs, Reina Kubota and Hang Xu presents Gair No. 1, an incredible maze made of cardboard boxes, and Yull Gestzi exhibits his paintings at Almacen Unlimited Art Gallery, amongst many, many others. DUMBO, Brooklyn. 12PM-7PM. Free.

Sunday 9/26 (MUSIC): Hold on to your festival guide and dance your Sunday away with a variety of sounds at the DUMBOArts Festival. Jon Colman, Osekre, and Lawrence Rush are a few notable performers, even the NYC Subway Girl Cathy Grier will be playing at the F Train corner on Jay & York St. DUMBO, Brooklyn. 12PM-6PM. Free.
