“Anger. I was unemployed, and had just spent a day feeling overwhelmingly disenchanted. In anger, I wrote a sentence and then a paragraph and then a page. And then I just kept going.”

  1. If anger, unemployment, and disenchantment serve as motivation, more power to you, but I found them to make me angry, broke, and miserable. Which, come to think of it, probably is my general state most of the time, so this explains why I don’t write more.
